The photographer’s eye: seeing photographically
A photographer must know the capacity but also the limits of his own photographic device is essential to learn to “see” in the right way and photographically. Consider, first of all, the affinities between the eye and the camera. They both use a lens to focus the image on a light-sensitive surface and both have the means to adjust the brightness.
But the eye has a considerably greater flexibility: for example, in dealing with strong contrasts of light, it is able to make us distinguish the details of objects in the shade or in full sun automatically.
Our brain, precisely because we have two eyes, receives two visions of the subject, these form a figure that gives us a sense of depth greater than that of any photograph. On the other hand, the camera has some capabilities that surpass those of the eye, framing only a small part of the world and thus drawing our attention to that.
With the ability to freeze motion it can reveal details that are not always visible to the naked eye. Perhaps the most important thing to remember is that the eye immediately notices the element of interest in a scene with continuous movement. vice versa the camera fixes the whole scene as you press the button. but without a critical sense. You must therefore make the CHOICE!
